Richard Coates CE Primary School, established in 1719, is situated in the town of Ponteland, 8 miles away from the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. We provide first class education for children living within the local area, as well as from Newcastle and the smaller surrounding villages.
Our aim is to help your child be the very best that they can be. We strive for excellence in all we do so that your children can ‘SHINE BRIGHT’. Our motto, "Let your Light Shine" is taken from St Matthew's Gospel and encourages everyone at Richard Coates to discover and use the gifts and talents that they have been given as unique individuals. We seek to enable all to flourish and achieve their full potential within a caring and happy school where the Christian values of care, kindness and respect are at the heart of all we do.
Pupils are polite, courteous and welcoming.
The wider curriculum opportunities available to pupils helps them to identify and nurture their talents and to 'let their light shine', central to the school's vision.
This is a very happy school. Its ethos is inclusive, it cares about all aspects of its pupils' development and it puts its pupils and children at the centre of everything that it does.
