Reception Admissions
We would love to welcome your child into Reception to spend their primary years with us. Choosing the right school for your child is a really important decision.
Usually at this time of year, we welcome prospective families the opportunity to visit our school so you can see first-hand what we at Richard Coates Primary School can offer your child as they embark on their school learning journey. This year we need to do things differently to ensure that we keep everyone safe.
Why Choose Richard Coates Primary?
Although we are unable to offer our usually open days for you to meet the team and look around our Early Years environment we would like to give you the chance to find out all about us and what we offer.
Virtual Appointments
We are offering virtual appointments via Zoom or telephone, where you will be able to meet Mrs Brogden our Early Years Leader or Miss Anderson, our Nursery teacher.
We would also like to offer a social distanced tour of our setting at the end of the school day, to give you the opportunity to discover more about us.
Please contact the school to request a telephone/Zoom appointment or a tour, to discuss what Richard Coates has to offer or complete the form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

EYFS Introduction
Here in Early Years at Richard Coates C of E Primary School, we see all children as individuals and the learning starts from them. It starts from their experiences, the knowledge they already bring to school and their interests and we use these factors to shape the curriculum.
We seek to build strong links with the community, work in partnership with our parents and pride ourselves on developing creative critical thinkers in a highly inclusive environment. Our understanding that all children are individuals, means we aim to educate the whole child. Our curriculum is designed really carefully to ensure all children get the firm foundations they need, in knowledge and skills across all the areas of learning. We always want to make the learning irresistible and we place creativity at the core of what we do at Richard Coates, to help children develop strong learning behaviours.
We pride ourselves on creating an environment where children are inspired, curious, motivated and encourage children to have a real thirst for learning.
We understand the importance of children feeling safe, having fun with their learning and being excited. All children in Early Years at Richard Coates are given the amazing opportunity to discover, explore and learn both indoors and out and we use ‘hooks’ into learning to capture their imagination. The ethos and values your children develop in Early Years Foundation Stage, will continue as they make their journey through our school.
We have high aspirations for all our children, allowing them to be the best they can be and ‘let their light shine’.
